OUR BASIC OUTLOOK
PEOPLE NEED TO BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE
During all times people have fought for a better future – both for themselves and for future generations. Today the worries for the future lies as a soft roar in many peoples minds – not least because we are destroying the ecological ground that is necessary for our existence.

PEOPLE NEED AFFINITY
People feel well from being concerned by each other. By looking to our own and other’s needs, and how our lives are closely connected to each other, the society becomes something more than just a group of individuals. A society without the glue that solidarity means becomes instable and in the long run unsustainable – this applies to both the local community as well as the global scene.

PEOPLE NEED POWER OVER THEIR LIVES
The development of individuals as well as the society depends on that we all accept responsibility, both for our own lives and for the common. Civil participation is both a central democratic mean and an objective in itself.

OUR ACTIVITIES
COGITO SHALL BE an actor in the public debate in Sweden and contribute to a broader and deeper green perspective. Cogito wants to bring out the many constructive ideas and concrete experiments that show that a sustainable society lies within reach. It means quest­ioning prevailing economical and political structures as well as searching for real democracy. It further means criticism of the prevailing civili­zation and culture, and an unbiased talk about the good life.

From the statutes:
The purpose of the foundation is to promote debate and development of ideas in a green and ecological spirit, and contribute to long-term sustainable life forms, technical as well as social and humane. Cogito has an inter­national approach on the same time as the possi­bilities of the local community in a globalized world shall be analyzed and discussed with an open attitude and preparedness to question established truths, includ­ing such veracities that are regarded as truths in green movements.

COGITO WILL organize seminars and lectures, and make available a digital platform with articles and pictures, debate and research results, theory and empery, analyses and synthesis – produced by us as well as collected from all around the globe. Internationally Cogito is cooperating with other green think-tanks and institutes.

COGITO HAS RECEIVED financial start support from the Swedish Green Party and private donors. The think-tank is independent regarding the activities and its content. According to the statutes at least half of the board shall consist of members without political commissions of trust.

COGITO WANTS TO cooperate with others, both regarding activities and publications as well as long-term projects. We are also in the process of developing forms for those who want to support our work. Contact us for more information.
